Personalized Medicine For All

Advancing solutions that improve access to care and address gaps in health outcomes across communities

Overview

Health Equity is a newly established research focus area in the Coulter Department centered on improving health outcomes across all populations by addressing gaps in healthcare access, quality, and effectiveness. Through the application of advanced biomedical technologies, researchers aim to better understand and reduce variations in health outcomes influenced by biological, environmental, and systemic factors.

This area emphasizes the development of practical, scalable solutions that improve healthcare delivery and patient outcomes, with a strong focus on real-world impact and translational research.

Research Focus

Health Equity research at Coulter BME leverages interdisciplinary tools to:

  • Develop Accessible Medical Technologies: Designing diagnostic tools, devices, and models that are effective and usable across a wide range of patient populations and clinical settings
  • Apply Data-Driven Health Solutions: Using AI, machine learning, and data science to uncover patterns in health outcomes and inform more effective interventions
  • Foster Community Engagement: Collaborating with healthcare professionals and organizations to understand challenges in underserved settings and co-develop solutions that improve care delivery
