GT Gradworks
Coulter BME is committed to supporting its graduate students through research and teaching assistantships. Whether you're applying for a Graduate Research Assistant (GRA), Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA), or Graduate Assistant (GA) position, all hiring and support processes are managed through GT GradWorks, Georgia Tech’s official platform for graduate assistantship job management.
GT GradWorks is used each semester by students, faculty, and administrative staff to manage hiring requests, track funding, and ensure timely processing of stipends and tuition waivers.
Using GT Gradworks
- Log in to GT GradWorks.
- Choose:
- “Request Job for New Student” if you’ve never been hired at GT.
- “Request for Next Semester” if you’re continuing.
- Review and update your information:
- Confirm your personal details (via Passport) and contact the BME Academic Office if you need to make corrections.
- Verify all existing fellowships, including start/end terms and amounts. Add any new fellowships not listed.
- For Emory support, enter your advisor’s name and Speedtype, start term and year, and amount per semester (not needed for GRA) under Fellowships.
- Initiate the hire request (GT hires only):
- Select your name and advisor.
- Choose “Monthly” for stipend period.
- Set percent time to 33% (BME standard).
- Add start term/year.
- Upload any relevant documents (e.g., fellowship award letters).
To be hired as a GRA or GTA during the summer, you must be registered for at least 3 credit hours. If you are not enrolled in summer courses, you must be hired as a Student Assistant instead.
Any changes to your status—such as receiving a new fellowship or changing your graduation term—must be reported to both the Academic Office and Finance Office immediately. You’ll also need to submit a new support request in GT GradWorks to reflect the change.
To ensure timely processing of stipends and tuition waivers, support forms must be submitted by the following dates:
- Fall Semester: July 1
- Spring Semester: November 1
- Summer Semester: April 1
Late submissions may result in delayed payments or loss of tuition waivers. Both students and faculty are responsible for meeting these deadlines.
Faculty members or their designated staff must approve student support forms and provide updated account or project numbers. For grants routed through Emory, GT GradWorks will not display project numbers—students must manually enter their Emory advisor and Speedtype under the Fellowships section.
For detailed instructions, refer to the GT Gradworks page on the Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Education website. If you need help updating your student information, contact the BME Academic Office. For questions about funding or stipends, reach out to the BME Finance Office.
