Coulter BME Alumni Grow Surgical Safety Startup Through Global Competition

Team Leave No Trace is advancing their mission to improve surgical safety worldwide. The team of biomedical engineering graduates developed RECUVERY, a system that helps medical professionals count and identify surgical items, helping prevent sponges, gauze, and other materials from being left behind during surgery. 

 

Founded as a part of the Advanced Capstone Design program, the team recently completed the 6-week Hult Prize Digital Incubator where they honed their business and connected with other entrepreneurs. In July, they will compete with other student-founded companies working on health technologies in the virtual pitch round of the University of Utah’s Bench to Bedside APEX competition.
