Biomedical engineering at Georgia Tech and Emory University continues to be a top choice for students seeking a multidisciplinary education integrating science, engineering, and medicine. U.S. News and World Report ranked the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering no. 2 for undergraduate and graduate biomedical engineering programs in the nation.

 

In the past year, the department has expanded its academic offerings with a minor in artificial intelligence and machine learning, a collaboration with the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts at Georgia Tech. At the graduate level, Coulter BME launched the Cardiovascular Biomechanics Graduate Training Program at Emory and Georgia Tech (CBT@EmTech) to prepare predoctoral students for biomedical engineering and bioengineering careers in the cardiovascular field.

Rankings for biomedical engineering are based on peer assessments by department leaders.
