Dr. Shim has expertise in spectroscopic MRI and brain tumors. Her brain imaging group has developed an advanced 3D whole-brain spectroscopic MRI technique to assess the full extent of tumors by quantitatively measuring metabolic processes, which can be used to guide radiation therapy. In addition, she leads the national technical development of spectroscopic MRI to support high-dose radiation therapy for brain tumor patients in the National Clinical Trial Consortiums.
