New Dual-Degree Pathway Bridges Medicine and Robotics

A new dual-degree pathway from Emory University and Georgia Tech will prepare future physician-innovators to work at the intersection of medicine, robotics, and artificial intelligence. The five-year Doctor of Medicine/Master of Science in Robotics pathway combines medical training at Emory with advanced robotics education at Georgia Tech.

 

Students will work with faculty mentors from both institutions and complete advanced coursework and a capstone project focused on developing and applying technologies in healthcare. The master’s degree is offered through Georgia Tech’s interdisciplinary Master of Science in Robotics program, which brings together faculty and expertise from six schools, including the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering.

 

According to Jaydev Desai, professor and Cardiovascular Biomedical Engineering Distinguished Chair in the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering, the pathway will help future physicians develop the technical expertise to understand and apply emerging technologies as they shape patient care.
