Atlanta, GA — U.S. News and World Report named the Walter H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering the nation’s top undergraduate biomedical engineering program. The program was ranked no. 2 last year.
“This ranking is a testament to our Bernard M. Gordon Prize for Innovation in Engineering and Technology winning undergraduate curriculum that fuses problem-driven engineering education and learning-science principles to develop leaders in biomedical engineering; as well as to our unique partnership between Georgia Tech and Emory University that gives our students and faculty opportunities to identify and solve complex, needs in human health,” said Alyssa Panitch, Coulter BME Department Chair. “We’re committed to continue providing a strong foundation of successful educational programs and research opportunities to foster future leaders in biomedical engineering.”
Earlier this year, Coulter BME’s focus on innovation, collaboration, and teamwork was also rewarded by the Georgia Tech College of Engineering, as the Department celebrated a 4th consecutive victory in the Spring Capstone Expo, the college’s top student competition.
Georgia Tech’s College of Engineering undergraduate engineering program continues to rank no. 3 in the nation. Earlier this year, U.S. News and World Report ranked Coulter BME’s graduate program at no. 2.
Rankings for biomedical engineering are based on peer assessments by department leaders.
