Alumni from the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech and Emory University were recognized during the 2026 College of Engineering Alumni Awards Induction Ceremony held March 21 in Atlanta.  

Council of Outstanding Young Engineering Alumni

Tahir Haque, BME 2011, and Cassandra McIltrot, BME 2022, were inducted into the Council of Outstanding Young Engineering Alumni, which recognizes graduates who have distinguished themselves through professional practice and service to the Institute, the engineering profession, or society at large. 

Haque is the Director of Innovation at Becton Dickinson, where he leads new product development. He also serves as a faculty member at Harvard Medical School and is an attending physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

McIltrot is the Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of StrideLink Inc., a company she launched through Georgia Tech’s CREATE-X program in 2021. StrideLink is an FDA-listed wearable device designed to support at-home gait monitoring capabilities for patients.

Academy of Distinguished Engineering Alumni 

The College also honored Craig L. Duvall, Ph.D. BME 2007, with the Academy of Distinguished Engineering Alumni Award in recognition of his contributions to biomedical engineering. Duvall is the Cornelius Vanderbilt Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Vanderbilt University, where he serves as associate department chair for research initiatives and directs the Duvall Advanced Therapeutics Laboratory. He recently co-founded Eltia Therapeutics, a company focused on developing new treatments for neurodegenerative diseases.
