Graduation Requirements

What is the 36 hour rule?

No student may be considered a candidate for a degree unless the final 36 credit hours required for the degree are earned in residence at Georgia Tech and approved by the major school. Students in violation of this rule must Petition the Faculty.

Can I study abroad as part of the 36 hour rule?

Since credits earned on GT programs abroad are considered GT credit hours in residence, you can go abroad on a GT Study Abroad Programs during your final 36 credit hours at GT.  This does not apply to non-Georgia Tech study abroad programs.
