Outstanding BioE Student Paper

  • All BioE students are eligible - Must be currently enrolled
  • $750 cash and plaque award
  • Nominated by Advisor - nominations must include a letter of support from advisor discussing impact and significance of the work
  • Electronic copy of paper must accompany nomination
  • Paper must be published, in press or accepted in the time frame January 1 - December 31, 2014

Outstanding BioE PhD Thesis

  • All BioE students are eligible - Do not have to be currently enrolled 
  • $750 cash and plaque award
  • Nominated by Advisor
  • Nominations must include a letter of support from advisor
  • Electronic copy of Ph.D. thesis must accompany nomination
  • Thesis Certificate of Completion form must be signed by ALL committee members in the time frame January 1 - December 31, 2014

Outstanding BioE Advisor

  • All BioE Program Faculty are eligible
  • $500 discretionary funds and plaque
  • Nominated by graduate student(s) – Submit a letter explaining why you are nominating a faculty member. 

Christopher Ruffin Leadership Award

The Student Leadership Award was established to honor the memory of Christopher Ruffin and his exceptional contributions to the BioE Program. Chris began working at GT in 1994 and joined the bioengineering community in April 2001. As Academic Advisor in the BioE Program, Chris worked tirelessly to support the BioE students and faculty.  This award recognizes a current graduate student for his or her superior contributions to the BioEngineering Program. The Leadership Award will be awarded to a student whose influence, ideals and activities throughout his/her time in the BioEngineering Program has left a long lasting and positive impression on the institution and has raised the standard of excellence for future BioEngineering classes. Examples of strong leadership qualities include activities such as peer mentoring, teaching, and service.

Nominations should be submitted to Laura Paige with the BioE program. Nominations for the Outstanding Awards will be reviewed by the BioE Faculty Advisory Committee and nominations for the Ruffin Leadership Award will be reviewed by a BGA committee. Winners will be announced at the BioE Reception on March 27, 2015 (Recruitment Day).
